The Bridal Falls bulk water system service area was established by the Regional District of Fraser-Cheam in 1985 and was converted to a Fraser Valley Regional District Service Area in 1999. The system provides water to approximately 15 customer service accounts in the small community of Bridal Falls, in Electoral Area D.
Because of the high seasonal population that visits the area in the summer, the number of people served by this system can rise to as many as 200. The source water for this system is groundwater, provided from two wells. A three-cubic-metre reservoir provides storage for the system, and there is also an iron and manganese removal system in place.

The Fraser Valley Regional District has been exploring the feasibility of integrating the three water systems in Electoral Area D, namely the West Popkum, Bridal Falls, and Cheam View (Berston Road) systems. This integration would improve low pressure zones and other problems currently faced by the individual systems, as well as improve fire protection throughout the service areas.

Emergency Response Plan

The Drinking Water Protection Regulation requires that emergency response and contingency plans are developed for each water system. These plans identify roles and responsibilities of the Regional District in the event of an emergency that affects the water supply. The plans also identify contingency measures to be put in place in the event of a loss of water.

To report a water problem in your area, please call the Engineering and Environmental Services Department at 1. 800. 528. 0061.
