A review of the Regional Growth Strategy was initiated in October 2010, in order to address the continued growth of the region and the challenges associated with it such as air quality, transportation, housing, economic growth, and greenhouse gas monitoring.
Phase 1 comprises the background analysis and the formal establishment of the review process. Much of the background data collection and analysis led to the creation of the Regional Snapshot Series – a series of reports intended to provide a picture of the forces which are shaping growth and change in the region today. The purpose of the snapshots is to highlight some of the growth management issues facing us today.
The formal initiation of the review process required us to create an Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC) to oversee and guide the review process. Committee members are drawn from the FVRD’s member municipalities, First Nations, neighbouring regional districts, provincial and federal ministries and agencies, as well as community stakeholders. Terms of Reference for the Committee have been established, along with an Engagement Plan and Workplan. Minutes of the IAC meetings will be posted on the Phase 2 page once adopted.
