Donations
The Fraser Valley Regional District Parks function is always open to donations from the public and various organizations.
In 2003 the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Lodge 7, donated $60,000.00 for the development of a floating walkway at Cheam Lake Wetlands Regional Park. The walkway and viewing platform is enjoyed by tens of thousands of visitors and school children annually.
In 2004, the Chilliwack River Valley Ratepayers donated the land that now has become Thompson Regional Park in the Chilliwack River Valley. This park will serve as the gate-way for information to visitors from all over the world. Although the park was officially opened in September of 2004, much of the park information will be installed for the 2005 operational season.
If you have items you wish to donate, such as bird houses, bat boxes or educational tools; (taxidermy, microscopes, fresh water aquariums, field guides), would all be well used. Please contact us prior to donation or construction to ensure the donation can be best used.
Sponsorship Programs
New for 2005, are the park bench, park picnic table, and tree and shrub sponsorship program. A 8 inch x 3 inch bronze plaque is used to inscribe the name and information desired, and then inset into a park bench or table. Trees, of an appropriate species, can be planted in a suitable location in a park. Please see the attached information if you would like to have an item placed in honour of a special person or family member.
