Park Interpretation

FVRD Parks provides learning opportunities through park interpretation for educational groups and organizations. Fun and informative, these free interpretive programs are suitable for children and adults alike.

Cheam Lake Wetlands Park is currently where interpretive tours are provided. Cheam Lake Wetlands tours usually occur during the late spring and summer and are very popular with local schools.

Cheam Lake Wetlands interpretive tours focus on wetlands and wildlife.  The first part of the tour features a hike through a marsh, a view of a beaver pond and a talk about the park's marsh plants and wildlife.  The second part of the program, pond dipping, is a hands-on activity where small nets are used to capture pond creatures such as dragonfly nymphs, frogs and water beetles. Information is shared about the individual creatures captured including their life history.

If your group is interested in booking a free tour, call (604) 702-5024 to reserve a date. Demand is high, especially during summer months.
