View from the summit - G. Gadsden photoCheam Ridge Regional Trail offers an opportunity to hike a beautiful alpine landscape on Cheam Mountain with unsurpassed views of the Valley below. Alpine wildlife includes golden eagles, white-tailed ptarmigan and mountain goats. In July, the wildflowers are usually in full bloom. Starting in September, the shrubs begin to turn brilliant colours. The trail, beginning from the parking lot, is 4.5 km in length (9 km return) and takes about 2 hours to reach the summit (approx. 4 hours return). The trail is rough with frequent steep sections. Hiking season and road conditions vary due to snowpack levels, but the road and usually most of the trail are typically clear of snow by mid to late June. Contact us first before heading up for up-to-date information.

How to Get There:

Cheam Ridge is accessed from the south. Starting from Thompson Park set your odometer at zero and head east onto Chilliwack Lake Road. Drive for 21 km. Just after the bridge over the Chilliwack River, turn left onto Foley Forest Service Road. Drive for 2 km. Immediately after the bridge over Foley Creek, turn left and drive for another 2 km. About 500 m after the bridge over Chipmunk Creek, turn right onto Chipmunk Creek Forest Service Road. Continue straight on Chipmunk Creek Forest Service Road until you reach the parking lot at the trail head to Cheam Ridge Trail. 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended as there are many cross-ditches on Chipmunk Creek Forest Service Road.
