Yellow Flag Iris Removal Update 2010

FVRD Environmental Services and Parks Department have been working together to remove Yellow Flag Iris from Cheam Lake Wetlands Regional Park's delicate ecosystem. Yellow Flag Iris is often found in gardens and ornamental ponds; however, when it is found growing wild, it can have a huge impact on the natural environment, crowding out native species and altering the natural habitat. Through the combined efforts of Parks and Environmental Services we can ensure the future or our wetlands and protect our parks from invasive species. To date, over 1,800 kg of Yellow Flag Iris has been removed from the park. (Nov 10 /10)
