The Hope and District Recreation Commission’s Sports Hall of Fame recognizes and honours up to four people per year who have made a significant contribution to sports in the Hope and district region. From the nominees submitted, the commission chooses, one or two outstanding athletes and/or one or two people whose dedicated service to recreation in the community stands out.
Anyone can nominate a deserving individual. Nominees can be current residents of Hope and district, past residents, or nominated posthumously. The only people excluded are current members of the Hope and District Recreation Commission, Fraser Valley Regional District board members, the District of Hope Council, and employees of these government agencies.
Nominations are accepted each year from April 1 to April 30. The completed nomination form must be received by the commission no later than April 30. The commission then meets in June to review the candidates and make their selections. A luncheon is announced at which the new recipients are awarded with a plaque to thank them for their exceptional service.
