What is the BC Product Stewardship Program?

The BC Product Stewardship Program, also know as the Extended Producer Responsibility Program, is and industry led government initiative intended to prevent specific recyclable and in some cases toxic materials and substances from entering landfills and polluting the environment.

Producers of these materials have developed programs, and set up collection depots where the materials can be dropped off by the public, and in some case returned for a deposit.

What materials are included in the Program?

Programs for the following materials and substances have been developed:

Beverage Containers
Cell Phones & Batteries
Electronics
Lead-Acid Batteries
Motor Oil, Filters and Containers
Medications
Paint
Small Appliance Recycling Program

Solvents, Flammable Liquids, Gasoline and Pesticides
Tires
