What is the BC Product Stewardship Program?

The BC Product Stewardship Program, also known as the Extended Producer Responsibility Program, is an industry led government initiative intended to prevent specific recyclable and, in some cases, toxic materials and substances from entering landfills and polluting the environment.

Producers of these materials have developed programs and set up collection depots where the materials can be dropped off by the public, and in some cases, returned for a deposit.

What materials are included in the Program?

Programs for the following materials and substances have been developed:

For information about specific products accepted in each of the categories, and for collection depots in your area, please click on the links provided under the category title below.

Programs for other materials are being developed on an ongoing basis, and information about these will be posted on this website once it is available.
