The list of inspections required may vary for any particular project and this will be confirmed by the building inspector when a permit is issued.
Require inspections may include any of the following.
- Before any concrete is poured, after the footing form work is complete, including reinforcing bars.
- Inspection of siting and/or elevation prior to pouring foundation walls.
- Before any backfill is placed, after the perimeter drain tile, drain rock and roof water piping is installed and the foundation damp proofing has been applied.
- Before any backfill is placed, after the drywell is complete.
- Before any backfill or concrete is placed and before installation of any inside covering has commenced, after the plumbing is complete, including sanitary system and water system tests.
- Before any insulation, drywall or other interior or exterior finish is applied which would conceal the work, after framing and sheathing of the building are complete, including fire-stopping and bracing.
- Before the interior finish is installed, after the insulation and vapour barrier have been installed.
- In the case of a masonry fireplace: (a) after the smoke chamber is completed, but before the chimney above it is constructed; (b) after the chimney is completed.
- In the case of a solid fuel or oil burning appliance or a chimney, after the installation is complete, but prior to any covering which would conceal the required clearances.
- Before occupancy of any building takes place (after construction is complete).
