What is the Wood Stove Exchange Program?

The Program encourages residents to exchange their old, non-EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certified wood burning stove or insert for a low emissions appliance, including a new CSA/EPA certified wood stove/insert, or other qualifying appliance. New technology wood burning appliances are proven to burn 1/3 less wood, to reduce emissions by up to 70%, and to significantly reduce the risk of chimney fires.

The program is operated at a community level through grants provided by the Province.

Program participants are eligible to receive a $250 rebate, providing that their old appliance has been rendered non-reusable and has been recycled at a scrap metal facility. Rebates are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
