Sunshine Valley Community is located on Highway 3 just before Manning Park's western entrance. It is an all-season resort residential community set in the scenic Sumallo and Nicolum River Valleys.
Sunshine Valley has had an interesting history since the 1930's and the creation of the Trites Hope Farm. It then became Tashme, a Japanese Internment camp, a Boy's Town Association home for wayward boys before becoming a rural recreation community.
There are six neighbourhoods comprising the community: Alpine, Cedar, Parkhill, Huckleberry, Meadow and Sumallo. These villages were established in the 1970s and 1980s.
Sunshine Valley Zoning Update
Thank you to those who participated and provided comments during the July 2010 Zoning Dialogue event. Public feedback identified a number of comments and concerns with respect to zoning, both positive and negative. It was apparent that many residents would like more details on proposed zoning and an opportunity to provide feedback in a referendum style process.
So, what's next? In 2011, the FVRD will be working with your Advisory Planning Commission and asking residents for input as zoning is drafted for Sunshine Valley. Your input is very important, so stay tuned for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, if you have any comments or questions, please contact:
